Mole and Skin Tag Removal

Moles and skin tags are extremely common and most people have them. However, large, raised or unsightly moles and skin tags can be unattractive. This is especially so on the face but can also cause concern on any visible part of the body.

Equally if they are positioned where they may rub on clothing (e.g. belt, cuffs, collars) they can become very annoying or inconvenient when they catch or snag.

Mole and skin tag removal are very simple procedures carried out under local anaesthetic in the specific area.

Why Should I consider Mole Removal?

Purely cosmetic reasons alone. Many people feel that this is an expression of some vanity, however most people see themselves and their interactions with others hampered by moles growing in awkward very visible places. This can affect self esteem and they are then better removed. Very occasionally there is a risk of cancer, thus there should be the option to send the lesion away to be checked.

Who is suitable for the treatment?

Subject to initial medical screening, both men and women of any age and with all skin types can benefit from the treatment.

How long does it take?

The treatment will usually take about 20-30 minutes, depending on how many Moles or Skin tags you want to be removed. The area is numbed with local anesthetic, the mole or skin tag is neatly removed and the area is closed and a dressing put in place. When initial redness/swelling has faded, this will leave a neat scar, which should be barely noticeable, certainly compared to the mole.

Post-treatment care and follow-up

  • Simple mole removals do not usually require a follow-up appointment.
  • To prevent infection, pay attention to keeping the area clean. Also, avoid any unnecessary stress, strain or trauma to the area to ensure that the wound heals quickly.
  • We arrange for removed lesions to be sent off for histopathological testing to ensure that the best care and advice is given. This will be explained by our doctors upon consultation.
  • Facial stitches are typically removed within 4-7 days. Stitches elsewhere are usually removed 8-21 days later, depending on the type of suture and the surgeon's preference.

What is the cost?

The doctor will be able to give you an accurate price upon consultation, prices start from £80 per mole / skin tag removal.
